TALK ABOUT GOING OUT WITH A BANG!

Yesterday, our last day in Edinburgh, was truly a bang-up day. We had a great time.

The day started with the sad process of packing as we knew we would be home late and had to be out the door by 6:00AM this morning.

We then headed to the city centre where Jamie literally bought the necklace off of the neck of a street vendor.

The Chain on this guys neck is now on Jamie

We had a very healthy and very good lunch (we missed breakfast) of Tomato and Lentil Soup and Salad.

Centre Piece was Scottish Thistle :-)

After lunch we went for a tour of Edinburgh Castle. It was pricey we thought (17 pounds each including audio tapes) but we really enjoyed it. It was at Edinburgh Castle we had our first BANG of the day. We arrived just before 1pm and they shoot the cannon off at 1pm daily.

After the castle we did a BUNCH of shopping on the streets.

1PM SHOOTING OF THE CANNON - "BANG!!!"

After shopping we went over to Catherine's for a light bite before the evening show.

On the drive to the evening show we passed some beautiful properties which Catherine commented "really represented Edinburgh".

The show we saw was the second big BANG of the day. It was "The Ladies of BANGkok". All I have to say about that show is OH>>>>MY>>>GOD!!!! What an incredible show.

I had Chilli Chicken with rice there. It was small and awful but it didn't matter. The show and the four beers made up for it :-)

We went with Catherine, Angelo, Joni, and the beautiful Nadia who let us stay in her flat for the week. She looked like a real knock out last night. The rest of us simply couldn't compete with the Ladies of Bangkock LOL.

I expected a drag show but nothing of the calibre of this. Not only would you swear the boys were girls but they were funny and talented! It wasn't restricted to boys in drag either. We saw a lot of good numbers where they were just "boys" or mixed boys and "girls". The show ended with a wonderful tribute to Scotland with songs my Dad loved like Auld Lang Syne and Loch Lomand  (you know the one: 'you take the high road and I'll take the low road and I'll be in Scotland afore ye".

It really made us realize we were leaving this beautiful place. We can't wait to come back.

It is home.

That's Nadai, Catherine, Joni and me with four of the Ladies of Bangkok above. It is actually a picture of a picture but will put the original on facebook when I get home.

Jamie and I are now sitting on a train about half way through our journey from Edinburgh to London.

We already miss Edinburgh, espeacially Nadia, Catherine. Angelo, Danny, Dommie, Joni, Paul, Christine, Veronica, Mario and Mr. Conway (Ed but I still can't call him that).

We really hope they can all find a way to visit us in Canada but if they don't they will see us again for sure in 2013.

Be healthy!

Alan
